Several county Republican Parties and conservative groups from northern Michigan sponsored an event on January 8th at the Great Wolf Lodge in Traverse City to hear presentations from candidates for state party leadership, to be chosen at the state party convention in February. The Leelanau County Republican Party was one of those sponsors. The event, referred to as a "Forum", was well attended by Republicans from across northern Michigan, including many from our Leelanau party. Eight candidates were present, and they responded to specific questions intended to explore their qualifications and intentions in certain important areas should they be elected chairman of the state party in February. Leelanau will send seven delegates to that event. Those delegates will be chosen at the county convention on January 26th at the county government center.
