Tribute to Charlie Kirk linked at Youtube
My Fellow Republicans, Conservatives, and American Patriots,
So many words have already been spoken in honor of Charlie Kirk, that anything that I might say, will likely seem redundant. However, the fact that I share the same sorrow and grief as many others does not mean that those feelings are irrelevant or unimportant.
I never had the privilege of meeting Charlie Kirk, but I did have the privilege of working with members of his organization, and I used his organization’s online app to create knock lists and locate GOP voters during my campaign for County Commissioner. I can tell you from experience that his people were professional, competent, and very committed to the mission of returning America to its Constitutional conservative roots.
I also had great admiration for Charlie’s fearlessness in going to campuses where his message of Christianity, morality, individual freedom, and the right of every individual to enjoy their freedom as long as they were not harming or intending to harm other people were anathema to Democrats, atheists, LBGTQ+ radicals, racists, and socialists. Over and over his reasonable, unapologetic, unwavering truthfulness provoked anger, and hatred from people who are so intolerant and so narrow minded that they cannot accept even the thought of someone who disagrees with them speaking publicly. However, unlike his foes, I never saw Charlie Kirk get angry, become abusive, call for violence, call for people to be shut down, or say anything that could truthfully be construed by anyone as a call for violence. Unsurprisingly, his approach, though controversial, was highly effective at gaining the support and admiration of millions, literally millions, of young Americans of all races, creeds, and colors. At his death, he had over 5.5 million followers of his podcast!!
So what can we as American Patriots, Republicans like Charlie Kirk, and supporters of Christian morality do to honor Charlie and help sustain his work and preserve his legacy? You can get out and vote in support of the things that he stood for! Vote for life for the unborn. Vote for smaller, less intrusive government. Vote for Law and Order. Vote for strong borders. Vote for school that is based on teaching our children shared values of respect for all people, as well as gratitude and appreciation for our Constitution.
In this state, vote for AXMITAX! That alone will allow this state to pursue many of the objectives Charlie valued so highly. We must also support publicly and unequivocally those leaders and candidates who promise to support our values, and have track records which indicate that their support is not a political convenience, but a conviction.
The support that I am calling for must be a long-term commitment: steadfast, unwavering, reasonable, and fearless just like Charlie was. Time will show those of us who have discipline, loyalty, and commitment to follow through. In the meantime, and in the short run, I strongly urge all members of the Leelanau County GOP who are able to do so to attend the vigil in Charlie Kirk’s honor at the Open Space Park in Traverse City tomorrow night at 7 PM.
I regret that because I am out of town, I will be unable to attend the vigil, but I will not fail to continue to pursue the objectives that Charlie Kirk, and all constitutionally conservative American patriots, hold dear. Please pray for Charlie’s family and for the American patriots who will continue to spread his same message in the face of threats and violence. Freedom has never been free, and I am proud that we as a party are on the side of the angels…including one of heaven’s newest, Charlie Kirk.
